60m NVIS Update

As I discussed in my previous post I’m involved in a propagation experiment on the 60m, 5mhz Amateur Radio Band.

Things are coming along nicely we have active beacon stations in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Recently a couple Hams from Idaho have joined our project in a receive only capacity as the American regulations don’t allow for automatic beacons on the 60m band.

We are continuing to collect data, as of the time the writing of this post we have over 138Mb of data. Thanks to the help of Philip Gladstone who owns pskreporter.info for allowing us to gather data directly from his system for this project. Below is a live picture from  pskreporter.info showing our beacons.

In the near future we hope to have the data gather from the project available on the project website. The data portal will have graphs showing the effect of various solar weather on 60m NVIS propagation in the Canadian Auroral zone in Western Canada.

I’ll post again when we have the data portal up and running.
